Seeing for Change

 Short Documentary

This multivocal short documentary shares the stories of five activists and their thoughts of the core of activism;  why is it needed in a modern day society and how the world looks through the lens of people trying to cumulate change through action. People's need to resist and the need to change their surroundings has always existed, but what does it mean to take action?

This film is produced, written, filmed and edited by me and my colleague Yasmin El-Beih. It is featured by five different activist around the world, who are sharing their stories and need to act for better tomorrow. Together with the activist we wanted to create a film which allows the audience to reflect the stories they are introduced to with footage of activism around the world.

What does being a migrant mean, for both individuals and the places that they move to?

This multimedia project asks how migrants, refugees and asylum-seekers in Brighton are creating community cafés and sharing their culture with each other, and locals, through food, music and other activities. These spaces provide support, strengthen bonds and help in the forging of new relationships.

SPACES WITH STORIES

Multimedia project

The project was created by four students, Emily, Anna, Kamla and Hannah, who are migrants themselves as well, which created different colours of the spectrum to the way we discussed, observed and approached these stories and places.
